Come meet us at the Hercma mobile home show in Hull

Once again Scandinavian Log Cabins Direct Ltd will be exhibiting one of our beautiful log cabin mobile homes at the Hercma show in Cottingham near Hull. The 4th and 5th September are public days when anyone can visit, while 7th to 9th September are trade days reserved for members of the Park Home industry.

If you are looking for a mobile home, then this is the show for you!
This year we will be exhibiting one of our Mobo 65 mobile homes. You can find us in the Cottingham Golf club area of the show.

Edinburgh festival fringe event sponsored by SLCD

Here at Scandinavian Log Cabins Direct Ltd we are pretty focussed on building quality log homes and cabins, but we are also interested in other things such as the Arts. We are therefore pleased to provide sponsorship to students from the Cardiff School of Creative and Cultural Industries who are putting on two plays at this years Edinburgh fringe festival. "What becomes an End?" and "Performance Postponed/Report� La Performance" are both written and performed by a group of new graduates from the school. They are being performed in Edinburgh at the 'C Aquila' venue at Roman Eagle Lodge, Johnston Terrace, Edinburgh throughout August.
We wish them every success for the festival.

This years Goodwood Festival of Speed was a resounding success. As usual there was no shortage of volunteers to man our stand at the festival. Visitors saw a terrific programme of events including a spectacular display by the Red Arrows.

For the first time we erected a Garage 50 at the show which proved popular as a shelter against the heat on the Saturday.

A wooden garage provides the ideal environment for a classic vehicle since they do not suffer from damp like a concrete garage. The wooden walls are able to absorb and shed moisture.

Special thanks to our trusty team of erectors who built and disassembled the garage in record time.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the premier events for fans of motor sport. The stunning location on the South Downs and the grounds of Goodwood House make a perfect location for this fun day for motor sport enthusiasts. Scandinavian Log Cabins Direct will be there, and we will be showing off one of our Garage 50 double garages.

If you have a classic car, a wooden garage is the perfect environment in which to keep it. Wooden garages are able to breathe, and do not suffer from the damp conditions common in a concrete or brick garage, so much better for your treasured possession.

Come along and visit us and see for yourself what great quality our garages are, and if the weekend is as hot as it is forecast to be, then our garage will be one of the coolest spots to shelter.

Windsor Spa showroom opens for business

When Jeff Remington started Windsor and Maidenhead Sauna Pool and Spa on the site of Squires Garden Centre in Windsor he intended to sell only the very best quality products from Villeroy and Boch.

This weekend is the National Homebuilding and Renovating show in Birmingham at the NEC. This is the largest show of the year for the self build home market, and is always packed full of interesting things to see. As usual Scandinavian Log Cabins Direct will be there on stand U65. We have lots to show this year including some previews of some radical new designs for Log Houses never shown before in this country.
Author and Planning expert David Acreman will be a guest on our stand to give you advice about Planning permission.

How to legally live on agricultural land

Here at Scandinavian Log Cabins we are very often contacted by smallholders who have been denied permission by their local authority to live on their smallholding. Very often the reason given is because they cannot prove that they need to live on the land in order to run their business. Smallholders sometimes think the planning officers want a countryside empty of people.

However if one is familiar with all the regulations it is perfectly possible to legally live on a smallholding without requiring planning permission.

There is a very good book on the subject by planning consultant David Acreman called "Field to Farm. In his book David guides you through the labyrinth of regulations that are so daunting to aspiring smallholders. Field to Farm is invaluable for anyone who wants to start an agricultural business.

David Acreman will be a guest on the Scandinavian Log Cabin Direct stand at the Homebuilding and Renovating show at the NEC in Birmingham March 18th to 20th. This is an ideal opportunity to talk to David about your planning issues and at the same time discuss with us a cabin to put on your small holding for your new agricultural business.

The severe weather is back with a vengence and Britain is covered with a blanket of snow.It is even snowing on our website.

Don't you wish you had a nice warm Swedish home office you could work in instead of sitting around the house looking at the snow out of the window? Beat the VAT increase

VAT rates are going back to 17.5% in the New Year. There is still time to take advantage of the lower 15% rate on orders invoiced before the end of the year. If you wish we can hold your cabin in storage if you want to delay construction until the weather improves.

This year we are increasing the number of smaller regional exhibitions we are appearing at. One of these is the Shrewsbury Flower show on the banks of the River Severn in Quarry Park Shrewsbury on August 14th and 15th.

The Shrewsbury Flower show is the oldest horticultural show in the world, and is always a fun day out.
