Welcome to Scandinavian log cabins Direct...

jorntra log cabins For centuries the Scandinavians have enjoyed a special relationship with their surroundings in order to survive despite the harsh winters and short summers. Taking no more than they needed from their surroundings they built beautiful log houses so they could enjoy the fruits of the forests and the lakes.

Although industrialisation has brought us nearer to them, and given us all great riches, there are many who still believe this way of life has much to offer.

It is a slower, gentler world, where life goes at a different pace. One where you can take time to appreciate the beauty of nature, watch the sun set, and your children grow up. Even the trees join in - they grow slower, straighter, so less wood is wasted and the houses are stronger, last longer.

This is the world of Scandinavian Log Cabins Direct. And we are pleased to be able to bring a little of this world into yours. As sole UK agents for Jörnträhus of Sweden we are fortunate enough to be able to offer you the possibility to buy a little bit of this dream.

Jörnträhus have been making log houses and cabins for 60 years over three generations. Their earliest houses and cabins are still in use today and their products can be found all over Sweden.

Using only locally sourced materials Jörnträhus design and build beautifully crafted log cabins and log houses built to the highest construction standards and yet they do this at a lower cost than most typical building methods.

St Leonards Childrens Centre Opening

Fellowship of St Nicholas open SLCD supplied Children's Centre
The St Leonards childrens Centre was officially opened on 3rd October by The Patron of The Fellowship of St Nicholas Baroness Fookes DBE, watched on by the Mayor of Hastings and St Leonards Maureen Charlesworth, Michael Foster MP for Hastings and Rye, and the staff of the Fellowship.

In a speech commending SLCD as principal contractor Baroness Fookes said how well the project had run under very difficult site conditions, remaining within a very tight budget.

Mayor Maureen Charlesworth commented how much the building resembled a 'Grand Designs' program and how pleased she was to have such a cutting edge design in the borough.

Michael Foster thanked everyone involved in raising the funding for the building and looked forward to sponsoring further projects as and when they arose.

Tallkaten log building The building is a 200m2 post and beam Tallkatan cabin with an unusual hipped roof. The building contains six offices and meeting rooms around a central corridor with kitchen and toilet facilities. The design includes a fully timbered high vaulted ceiling in the main 'Delivery Room'.

In a turnkey operation including the planning application, SLCD together with groundworks contractors Edmund Nuttall erected the building in record time, allowing the fellowship to offer a much increased range of services for the local community at their London Road premises.

Anyone wishing to make a donation to assist the Fellowship in their important work in the community should contact the Fellowship of St Nicholas
