The Trend 15 makes an ideal garden cabin or home office. It has a modern look with its tall window, door with three glazed panels, and single pitched roof. The low roof pitch means it can be positioned closer to property boundaries than our other products without requiring planning consent, and is more suitable for smaller gardens.
Trend 15 is manufactured from 58mm Pine logs sourced from sustainable forests in the far North of Sweden. Pine is harder and denser than the Spruce logs used by lower quality cabins. The 'insulation pack' option increases the wall thickness to 200mm which enables the Trend 15 to meet building regulations for permanent accommodation.
Even without the insulation pack the Trend 15 will be warmer than competing cabins thanks to its blind floor which provides a cavity beneath the floor to accept 120mm of insulation, and its pine ceiling which provides a space for insulation in the roof.
The windows used in Trend 15 are double glazed with 15mm thick sealed glazing with Low Energy glass in Pine frames. The U value of the windows is 1.75 which is better than most double glazing in the UK, and well within current Building Regulations for a permanent home (2.0). The windows come fitted with brass catches and stay.
Trend 15 does not need to sit on a concrete slab foundation. Instead the cabin sits on concrete posts embedded in the earth. The floor joists are strong enough to support the floor without the support of a concrete slab. The benefit for the user are two fold. First, post foundations are considerably cheaper to construct than a slab. Secondly, the secret to maintaining wood in a healthy condition is good ventilation. With our system air is allowed to freely circulate right under the cabin which will discourage rot and fungus.
Trend 15 fits into relatively small plots and exudes quality while being very good value for money. Most people will not require local authority planning permission or building control for a log cabin of this size.
